Each artist in the group Studio 1613 chose a book from the Woman's Library, published in 1922, and created work based on that book. Some of the book titles were "How to Plan a Meal," "How to Decorate a House," and "How to Dress." Through this process, the artists have conducted a dialogue with their counterparts of nearly a century ago, in a series called "Conversations." The work will be on display at the Redondo Beach Women's Club, 400 South Broadway, in Redondo Beach, from September 23 - 25, 2011.

It was strange to think that in ninety years table settings have hardly changed. Today we have countless books, television programs, and advice columns letting us know the do's and don'ts of table setting and menu planning. Do we need so much knowledge regarding a plate, a glass, silverware?
